Regatta fun yields cash for Maidenhead Citizen's Advice Bureau

The Hurley Regatta Committee is donating £4,250 from the proceeds of this year's Regatta to support the work of the Maidenhead Citizens Advice Bureau. Other donations are going to Windsor Lifeguards, and 1st Henley Scout Group.

The donation to the Maidenhead CAB was made at its AGM on 12 November 2015. Regatta Chairman Martin Fry said:
We selected the Maidenhead Citizens Advice Bureau earlier in the year to be the principal charity to be supported by the proceeds of the 2015 Regatta. This was in recognition of the invaluable work that it does in providing help in a various ways to a large number of people within our local community. Our Regatta this year again proved to be very successful with a large number of people attending on the day to enjoy a range of water and land-based activities. We are delighted, therefore, to be able to make a significant donation to our principal charity for this year

The 43rd Hurley Regatta, held on 15 August, again had a full programme of river-based competitions throughout the day and lots of other attractions within the Regatta field for the enjoyment of competitors and visitors. This long-established community event continues to be popular with children and adults alike as well as raising much-needed funding for a number of local charities
Once again, we are indebted to our many helpers and those who support the Regatta by providing funding ahead of the event and so helping both underwrite our costs and swell the sum we are able to disburse to the charities

    1. Maidenhead CAB £4,250
    2. Windsor Lifeguards £210
    3. 1st Henley Scout Group £250

The amount we are able to donate each year is entirely dependant on the success of the Regatta. Some years major boat repairs or purchases, and other unforeseen expenses eat into our profit. So it is no small feat that we have always been able to donate a substantial amount to the chosen charity and for this we are continually grateful to our supporters, sponsors, competitors, spectators and helpers to whom we owe a big ‘thank you’.
